NORMAN, Okla. — A Norman man has pleaded guilty in the death of his 15-month old child, who was found unresponsive in a hotel room.

The Norman Transcript ( ) reports that 23-year-old Zekeil Trinidad pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Thursday. A judge sentenced him to 60 years in prison.

Authorities say Trinidad told detectives he left 23-year-old Courtney Mays with their three children and went to get dinner for his family on Aug. 31, 2015. Mays told detectives she then left the children in the hotel room while she stepped outside.

Trinidad said he returned and found the 15-month-old child sitting in his car seat in the hotel room, unresponsive.

Mays was found guilty of second-degree murder and two counts of child neglect in July and sentenced to 90 years in prison. Thirty of those years will be a suspended sentence.
