EVANS, Colo. — Evans police evacuated a woman and four children Saturday when a man barricaded himself in a motel room during a felony warrant arrest.

Police say they were trying to arrest David Blanco, 28, on a warrant out of Kansas accusing him of burglary and drug possession. An officer fired one shot when police reported seeing a gun.

Weld County authorities fired tear gas and the man was arrested. The man and the evacuees were not injured.

No attorney was listed for Blanco in Colorado court records.
