POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — The Broward Sheriff’s Office says detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that involved two deputies responding to a domestic disturbance call.

According to a statement , deputies were called to a Pompano Beach home late Friday about a man armed with a knife.

The sheriff’s office says deputies were directed to the home’s backyard, where they encountered the man. According to the statement, the man produced a knife and two deputies fired their weapons.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue pronounced the man dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office says both deputies were placed on administrative leave.

The sheriff’s office says investigators continued working at the scene Saturday morning, collecting evidence and canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses.

Spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright identified the man as 55-year-old Gregory Frazier, but no additional information was released.
