Injured Columbus Christian student making progress

A Columbus Christian High School junior has made improvement since sustaining a severe brain injury a week ago following a Sept. 3 accident in northern Jennings County.

Levi Sallee, listed in serious condition Friday at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, has been taken off a ventilator and is breathing entirely on his own, according to a post on his CaringBridge site. “He is on a healing path,” according to the Friday post.

Sallee, originally hospitalized in critical condition, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by his friend, Adriane Polley, a 2016 graduate of the high school, who was released this week from Methodist.

The accident occurred when Polley’s vehicle hit a raised part of the road at Jennings County Road 1000N where it intersects with North County Road 700W, about a quarter mile from Polley’s home.

Families and friends of the two Jennings County teens have raised more than $7,000 to support their recovery.
