2006

Civil Air Patrol pilots from all over Indiana and neighboring states practiced search-and-rescue techniques over Columbus, using Columbus Municipal Airport as a base for training to help with missions that included locating crashed airplanes.

1991

A federal grant of up to $865,800 was awarded to Columbus Municipal Airport for reconstruction of a runway and installation of runway lights, part of a long-range plan to convert the former military air base into a top-notch civilian facility.

1966

Bartholomew County Crusade for Christ organizers announced that the two-week series of meetings at Memorial Gym would feature the Grady Wilson evangelistic team, opening night singing by George Beverly Shea and an appearance by singer Ethel Waters on the final two evenings.
