Week of pampering, service honors workers

Stone Belt Arc, one of the oldest and largest service providers for individuals with developmental disabilities in south-central Indiana, will host special activities next week for its direct-support professionals.

The agency’s direct-support employees based in the United Way building at 1531 13th St. in Columbus will be pampered to honor their work to provide services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The schedule:

  • Monday, noon to 3 p.m.: Massage therapist will be giving massages.
  • Wednesday, noon to 3 p.m.: Pizza party and car washes.
  • Thursday, 8 to 11 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.: Distribution of individual goody bags.
  • Friday, 7 to 9 p.m.: Thank-you cards from supervisors and 9 p.m. distribution of goody bags to overnight shift workers.

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has declared Sept. 11 to 17 as Direct Support Professionals Week.
