BOULDER, Colo. — A person waving a gun who shot at a Boulder County sheriff’s deputy is in critical condition after the deputy returned fire and shot the man.

Authorities say the shooting happened Saturday evening when they got a call about a man with a gun on the side of U.S. 287.

Investigators say the suspect was shot multiple times, and the deputy was not injured.

The name of the man has not been released.
