Golf tourney to benefit fallen Columbus soldier

The 21st annual Indianapolis Golf Tournament, to honor local fallen hero Marine Sgt. Jeremy R. McQueary, will be Thursday at Pebble Brook Golf Club in Noblesville.

Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the Sergeant Jeremy R. McQueary USMC Scholarship Program through the Marine Corp Scholarship Foundation. McQueary is a Columbus East graduate who served two tours in Iraq and was killed in Afghanistan in 2010.

Columbus Revolution conducting tryouts

The Columbus Revolution will conduct basketball tryouts Oct. 1 at Columbus North High School. Tryouts are from 1:30 to 3 p.m. for second- and third-graders and from 3 to 4:30 p.m. for fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders.

Tryouts for seventh- and eighth-graders will take place after their middle school season has ended.

Seymour offering coed, women’s volleyball

The Seymour Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registration for its Summer Coed and Women’s Volleyball Leagues until Oct. 1.

Coed League games will be played on Sunday evenings at the Seymour Boys and Girls Club, and Women’s League games will be on Wednesday evenings at Seymour Middle School. Cost is a $95 team sponsor fee, plus six $13 player fees. Online registration is available at seymourin.recdesk.com or at the Parks office. East coaches to host basketball camp at FFY

The Good & Humes basketball camp, hosted by former Columbus East girls basketball coach Mel Good and current East assistant Willie Humes will be the week of Fall Break.

The camp is for ages 5 through 8. Cost is $60. To sign up, contact FFY at 812-348-4555.

Small Ball Bash tourney set for Lincoln Park

The Cole Weddle Scholarship Small Ball Bash will be Sept. 24 and 25 at Lincoln Park. The coed softball tourney will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 24. The men’s tourney will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 25. Entry fee is $150 per team, with three games guaranteed. The deadline is noon Sept. 21.
