PORTLAND, Maine — Three Maine police departments are going to share $157,000 in federal dollars for training, technology upgrades and new equipment.
Sens. Angus King and Susan Collins announced that Augusta, Bangor and Portland will share in the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program. They say the biggest grant of $88,400 is going to Portland, while Augusta is getting about $44,500 and Bangor nearly $24,000.
Collins and King say police officers deserve people’s full support and that the money will increase safety both for officers and communities.
