BASTROP, Texas — Officials are investigating after finding a man, woman and 3-year-old child dead while responding to a welfare check at their Central Texas home.

The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Sunday that the bodies were discovered Saturday afternoon in the home in a rural area of Bastrop.

The sheriff’s office said it does not believe there are any threats to the public. Officials say the Travis County medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of the deaths.

Officials said the dead were: 41-year-old Leroy Roger Friedel Jr.; 32-year-old Jennifer Rutherford Friedel; and 3-year-old Leroy Rutherford Friedel.

Bastrop is located about 30 miles southeast of Austin.
