BURKEVILLE, Va. — Police say one person was killed and two others were injured in a shooting outside a nightclub in rural Virginia.

The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Paris Inn nightclub in Burkeville, nearly 60 miles southwest of Richmond.

Nottoway County Sheriff Larry Parrish told reporters that one person died at the scene. Two others were taken to a hospital via private vehicles. He says their injuries were not life-threatening.

Police have not released the identities of those who were killed. About 150 people were at the venue at the time of the shooting.

State police are investigating along with Nottoway County sheriff’s deputies.
