BUTTE, Mont. — Authorities are looking for the person who shot and killed a mule deer that was found dead next to a gutter in Butte.
The Montana Standard reports (http://bit.ly/2cnx0zl ) that police responded Monday to a call about a wounded animal wandering in the city’s uptown area. Coy Kline with the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks says the deer eventually laid down against a gutter, where it died.
Officers found the animal with a gunshot wound to its side.
Kline says it’s illegal to shoot within city limits and that the person who killed the deer could face charges for hunting out of season.
He says Fish, Wildlife and Parks is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to charges in the case.
