CONCORD, N.H. — New Hampshire Democratic Congresswoman Annie Kuster has released the first television ad of her re-election campaign on the devastating impact that the heroin and opioid epidemic has on families and communities.
In the ad, Susan Messinger, of Holderness, discusses the loss of her son Carl to a fentanyl overdose in October 2014. Messinger says it was cough syrup with codeine that triggered her son’s relapse.
After hearing her story, Kuster introduced “Carl’s Law,” which would change the labeling for prescription medications that contain opioids. Kuster founded a task force to combat the opioid epidemic.
The 2nd District representative is seeking a third, two-year term. She’ll face the winner of Tuesday’s Republican primary.
