WHEATFIELD, N.Y. — A woman faces a reckless driving charge after striking and killing two pedestrians who were walking along an unlit western New York road after a party.

The Niagara County Sheriff’s office announced charges against 20-year-old Carly Marrs of North Tonawanda over the weekend following an investigation into the Aug. 20 death of two 18-year-olds in Wheatfield. A third pedestrian survived.

Investigators say Marrs didn’t slow down from the posted 55-mph speed while driving past cars parked on both sides of the road shortly after midnight. She’s charged with misdemeanor reckless driving. She also was ticketed for imprudent speed and marijuana possession but investigators say she wasn’t impaired by drugs or alcohol.

A man answering the phone at Marrs’ home Monday says the family’s been advised by attorneys not to comment.
