NEW YORK — The New York Police Department says it has made an arrest in the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old woman in Brooklyn.

Police say 20-year-old Senia C. Williams, of Brooklyn, was arrested on charges of murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Information on her lawyer wasn’t immediately available.

The NYPD’s 73rd Precinct says officers responded around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a dispute involving someone with a knife on Bristol Street. When officers arrived and searched the area, they found Joanna Beauzier on a nearby street suffering from a stab wound to her chest.

The Brooklyn woman was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

This story has been corrected to show that the first name of the victim is spelled Joanna, not Joann, as originally reported by police.
