NEW YORK — New York City police say they shot a man in the thigh when he came after officers with a knife in the Bronx.
Assistant Chief Larry Nikunen (nih-KOO’-nihn) says the incident occurred around 1 a.m. Wednesday at the Throgs Neck Houses.
Police say they used a stun gun on the man but he refused to drop the knife. They say the bullet wound didn’t stop him either. They used the stun gun again before getting him in custody.
He was hospitalized in stable condition.
Police say the man also was threatening to kill himself.
