PHOENIX — Authorities have identified a man killed in a police shooting in Phoenix and released the name of a suspect involved in a related home invasion.
Police say the incident began about 1:30 a.m. Thursday with 21-year-old Penisimani Ika arrested at the scene.
Another man fled in a vehicle that led to a police pursuit that ended when he crashed into a tree.
Police say the man pointed a gun at three officers chasing him and a sergeant opened fire.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. He’s been identified as 32-year-old Robert Carrillo.
No officers were injured during the incident.
Police say Ika is facing three counts each of armed robbery and kidnapping and one count of first-degree burglary.
It was unclear Friday if Ika has a lawyer yet.
