VENTNOR, N.J. — Authorities say a New Jersey man fatally shot his wife and then himself in their home.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton said Friday that 59-year-old Marianne Wilson-Allen and 60-year-old Richard Allen were found dead in their home in Ventnor on Wednesday.

Ventnor police had responded to the home for a well-being check. A handwritten sign on a paper taped to the front of the house read “Call 911.”

Neighbor Joe Hitchner told the Philadelphia Inquirer that the couple had been battling health issues.

The victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
