PITTSBURGH — Authorities in western Pennsylvania have identified a teenage girl shot and killed in Pittsburgh.

Public safety officials said officers responding to a gunshot detector notification shortly after 3 p.m. found the victim in the Homewood neighborhood.

Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office identified her as 17-year-old Daija McCall.

Public Safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said officials don’t know how the shooting occurred. No arrests were immediately announced.

A little over 12 hours earlier, a 22-year-old man was found with four gunshot wounds in the same neighborhood. He was listed in stable condition at UPMC Presbyterian.
