FULTONDALE, Ala. — Police say they have a person of interest in custody in the beating of an 81-year-old Fultondale man during a home invasion.
According to AL.com (http://bit.ly/2dewjdv) Fultondale police Chief D.P. Smith says the man was home Saturday when the suspect kicked open the back door of his Walker Chapel Road home and burst inside.
Police say the intruder shot at the victim with a shotgun, beat him with the gun and then tied him up. He demanded the victim’s wallet and other items and then fled.
Smith said Monday detectives are seeking warrants against the assailant and said he is a suspect in crimes in at least four other neighboring cities. He was taken into custody Monday after detectives used forensics and witness accounts to identify him as a suspect.
