Final transportation planning meeting Monday

The Columbus Area Metropolitan Planning Organization will have a final open house to collect input for the 2040 Long-Range Transportation Plan update.

The open house is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Cal Brand meeting room at Columbus City Hall, 123 Washington St. Users of all modes of transportation, including motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, bus riders and freight movers, are encouraged to attend and share ideas.

Earlier open houses have included presentations of goals and scenarios related to transportation policies and projects. Suggestions have been made for road improvements, sidewalk and People Trail connections and new bus routes.

Monday’s format calls for a short introduction, followed by an opportunity for people attending to vote on prioritizing transportation projects. City planning department staff members will be in attendance to answer questions.

A 30-day review and comment period will follow the open house on the draft of the complete plan, which will be available on the Columbus Area Metropolitan Planning Organization’s website at columbus.in.gov/planning/campo/. Paper copies will be available at the Bartholomew County Library and its Hope branch and the city’s planning department at City Hall.
