Dog show coming to fairgrounds

The 41st annual Kennel Club of Columbus Indiana Dog Show will be Saturday and Sunday at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds.

Most of the activities will last from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. both days. More than 500 dogs from around the United States will compete for Best in Show for conformation entries and Best in Trial for obedience.

Some of the same dogs that compete in the Westminster Dog Show in February are registered to compete at the fairgrounds, said Linda Grimsley, club spokeswoman.

Also featured will be Junior Showmanship, in which those younger than 17 will be judged for their ability to handle their dog.

Concessions will be available from Boy Scout Troop No. 585. There is no admission fee and parking is free, but those attending are asked to bring a lawn chair. Only dogs entered in the show are permitted on show grounds.
