KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Florida cornerback Quincy Wilson’s unusual reference to predict the Gators will beat Tennessee for a 12th straight time hasn’t riled up the Vols.

“Have you ever seen a duck pull a truck?” Wilson said while referring to Florida’s winning streak over Tennessee. “Ducks don’t pull trucks. Nobody has ever seen a duck pull a truck. Florida Gators are going to win, simple as that.”

Gators coach Jim McElwain said Wednesday he’d only heard “bits and pieces” of Wilson’s comment. The 19th-ranked Gators (3-0, 1-0 SEC) are 6 ½-point underdogs in Saturday’s game at No. 14 Tennessee (3-0, 0-0).

“Hey, look, these guys are who they are,” McElwain said during the Southeastern Conference coaches’ teleconference. “I’m not into, you know, censorship. And you know, he better go back it up, I guess, whatever he said.”

McElwain was asked if he’d ever seen a duck pull a truck.

“That’s a classic right there,” McElwain said of Wilson’s comment “I’ve got to find out what the heck that means. But I guess I have watched an Aflac commercial, but I’ve never seen that duck do it, so I don’t know.”

Tennessee coach Butch Jones says he didn’t plan on saying much to his team about Wilson’s comment.

“I don’t pay attention to it,” Jones said. “That’s just clutter and distractions. I’m more concerned about preparation. They have a lot of confidence, and very deservedly so. … In today’s world of social media, I don’t have to blow that up.”

NOTE: Jones said offensive tackle Chance Hall is “good to go” for Saturday’s game. Hall, who started Tennessee’s final seven games at right tackle last season, hasn’t played all season after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery last month. … Jones also said he anticipates linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin will play Saturday. Reeves-Maybin strained a shoulder muscle last week in a 28-19 victory over Ohio.
