LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas police have given the all-clear at the Stratosphere casino after an unattended backpack prompted a partial evacuation there.

Police say they were called a little before 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday after security guards noticed a backpack that was making noises and was left near where bags are stored. The casino floor and a floor above that features a pool were temporarily evacuated.

Investigators later determined the package was left by a hotel guest and contained a medical device.

The scare prompted authorities to close some of the roads in the immediate area, including part of Las Vegas Boulevard that runs alongside the casino.

Police had also called Nevada’s chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear defense task force to investigate.
