Bus system gets $728,000 federal grant

The ColumBUS Transit system has received $728,000 from the Federal Transportation Administration to replace two of its buses.

The 80 percent/20 percent matching grant is through the Buses and Bus Facilities Grants Program.

The program makes federal money available to governmental agencies to replace, rehabilitate and purchase buses and related equipment and to construct bus-related facilities.

Columbus was the only project funded in the state of Indiana, according to the city’s engineering department.
