Expect delays: Patching starts in October on I-65

The Indiana Department of Transportation will begin a $1.2 million pavement repair project on Interstate 65 between U.S. 50 in Seymour and State Road 58 at the Walesboro exit south of Columbus.

Construction signs will go up next week with patching to begin in early October in the southbound right lane.

Reith Riley, the state’s contractor, is patching on all four lanes of the interstate. Some patches will be relatively small in size but narrow seam patches may be as long as 500 feet.

Work will require lane closures of up to 4.5 miles. Motorists should anticipate traffic delays during peak travel periods.
