Bull Dogs tie Trojans

ST. LEON — The Class 2A No. 20 Columbus North girls soccer team went toe to toe with 2A No. 11 East Central Wednesday night, playing the Trojans to a 1-1 tie.

The Bull Dogs (6-1-4) led 1-0 at halftime after Kristen Orben scored off an assist from Tanner Johnson in the 30th minute. East Central tied the game in the 77th minute.

The Trojans put eight shots on goal to four for North. Liz Tynan recorded seven saves.

Lancer wins No. 2 singles

WALDRON — Edinburgh’s Carlos Pazmino captured the No. 2 singles title in the Mid-Hoosier Conference Individual Tournament.

Pazmino beat Caleb Pennell of Southwestern (Shelby) 5-7, 6-1, (10-8) in the finals. Earlier, Pazmino finished off a 7-5, 6-4 semifinal win against Waldron’s Austin Swain in a match that began on Monday.

Stars blank Panthers

NORTH VERNON — Jeffersonville won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win at Jennings County in a consolation round match in the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament.

Justin Gasper fell to Ian Dillman 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Weston Miller lost to Brandt Callahan 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and Bryce Kirchner fell to Logan Bland 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Panthers (3-10).

Luke Ertel and Briar Davis lost to Alex East and Corbin Bushey 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Garrett Marsh and Austin Mills fell to Isaac Titche and Christopher Kidd 6-4, 7-6 (9) at No. 2 doubles.

Jennings will host Madison in the seventh-place match at 5 p.m. Friday.

Artesians edge Eagles

MARTINSVILLE — Martinsville scored a goal in the 76th minute to pull out a 2-1 win against Brown County.

Logan Fittz scored the goal for the Eagles (6-4-1). Noah Seidle recorded 14 saves.
