Homecoming toy drive Friday

With the official arrival of fall today, efforts are beginning to provide holiday assistance toward Bartholomew County people in need.

That’s why donations of new or gently used toys will be accepted during Friday night’s home football game at Columbus North High School.

Bins will be located at various locations near the football field to hold items that will be provided to the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund.

Considered by many to be the city’s oldest charity still in operation, the Cheer Fund is a nonprofit organization run by city firefighters that provided toys and other gifts to 1,222 children last December.

Kickoff for Friday’s varsity game against Terre Haute South Vigo is 7:30 p.m.
