BUCKEYE, Ariz. — Police in Buckeye say they’re investigating the discovery of a body partially submerged in an irrigation canal.

Authorities were called to the scene near Hazen and Miller Roads around 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Helicopter video from Phoenix TV station ABC15 showed Buckeye police officers and Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies searching the canal.

Buckeye police and firefighters retrieved the body of an adult.

There’s no immediate word on the gender or age or if there was any identification found on the body.

It’s also unclear how long the body had been in the canal.

Sheriff’s officials referred all questions to Buckeye police, who didn’t have any more details to release yet.
