SALT LAKE CITY — Police say they’re investigating after a sixth-grade student brought to school marijuana-laced brownies that sent three kids to the hospital.

Police and school officials said Friday the girl gave or sold the brownies to seven students on the playground before classes.

Authorities say the kids knew the brownies contained the drug. At least two sixth-graders and a third older girl remained hospitalized after ingesting them on Thursday, though their conditions weren’t considered life-threatening.

Police are investigating how the girl got the brownies she brought from home to Lincoln Elementary in Salt Lake City.

District spokesman Jason Olsen said officials sent a letter to parents after learning of the incident, and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken.
