The Columbus Fire Department promoted one of its members following the retirement of another firefighter.

Firefighter Josh Allman was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Allman is a 15-year veteran of the department. His certifications include emergency medical technician, vehicle and machinery rescue technician, hazardous materials technician, rope rescue technician and swift water rescue technician.

The promotion was announced to fill a lieutenant officer vacancy created after the retirement of Lt. Tony Shipley. He retired in August after serving 31 years on the department. Shipley, a paramedic firefighter, was hired by the fire department in 1985.
