ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Albuquerque police say two accomplices in a man’s shooting death last June remain at large.

Authorities said Sunday that 24-year-old Dakota Cook, a New Mexico prison inmate serving time for unrelated charges, has been identified as the suspected shooter in Larry Sanchez’s killing.

Police spokesman Tanner Tixier says arrest warrants have been issued for 27-year-old Joe Ray Newson, who is also known to use Newsom as a surname, and 40-year-old Antoinette Martinez.

Both are considered armed and dangerous.

Tixier says Newson fired a weapon at a relative’s home while committing auto burglary Friday.

Police say the two assisted Cook, who is accused of fatally shooting the 49-year-old Sanchez before pushing him out of a vehicle June 20.

Investigators did not say what the possible motive was.
