Overdose victims arrested on drug possession charges

Two local men were arrested after being revived with naloxone when police discovered them overdosing on heroin in the 900 block of McClure Road.

Tyrus R. Snow, 26, 955 McClure Road, and Matthew R. Jewell, 29, 2867 Randal Court, were arrested on charges of possession of heroin, possession of a syringe and possession of drug paraphernalia at about 8:20 p.m. Thursday, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police spokesman.

Officers were sent to the address about an overdose and found Snow and Jewell unresponsive inside the apartment, Harris said. Each received naloxone and were revived, Harris said.

While inside the apartment, officers found heroin, syringes and other drug paraphernalia, Harris said.

Snow and Jewell were taken to Columbus Regional Hospital and after treatment, were taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, Harris said.

Snow and Jewell are each being held at the jail in lieu of $17,500 bond, jail officials said.
