BURLINGTON, Vt. — A Burlington ministry group is organizing a vigil against all gun violence following a police officer’s shooting of a suspect during a pursuit.
WCAX reports (http://bit.ly/2dhTUuF) that the rally is scheduled for the evening of Oct. 2 in front of the Unitarian Church in Burlington.
Protesters in Winooski on Friday called for accountability and the release of footage of the shooting.
Vermont State Police say that Franklin County Deputy Sheriff Nick Palmier shot 29-year-old Jesse Beshaw six times and grazed him with a seventh shot after the unarmed suspect advanced on him with his hand behind his back.
Law enforcement is investigating the Sept. 16 shooting.
