Bull Dogs down Rebels

Columbus North tuned up for this week’s North Sectional with a 4-1 win against Roncalli on Monday.

The 23rd-ranked Bull Dogs (12-6) won two matches by shutout. Nathan VanDeventer blanked Jake Evans 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Kevin Lin and Ammar Khaled beat Max Huebler and Adam Mattingly 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles.

Also for North, Anay Gangal downed Chad Ransburg 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles, and Isaac Jackson and Lucas Huang topped Caleb Spato and Alex Payne 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. Ben Mathew fell to Bryson Meek 6-7 (4), 6-4, (10-8) at No. 3 singles.

Borden blanks Trinity

SEYMOUR — Borden won four matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win at Trinity Lutheran.

Bailey Baker fell to Joseph Volsteadt 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Jonathan Keith lost to Dawson Nale 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Jace Crockett fell to Brandon Thompson 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Matt Stuckwisch and Aden Jones lost to Mason Morris and Corey Anderson 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles and Hunter Morgan and Pierce McCammon fell to Mason Lagrange and Jackson Wagoner 6-2, 6-7 (2), 10-8 at No. 2 doubles.

Wildcats edge Jets

BROOKVILLE — Hauser outshot Franklin County 15-7, but came away with a 1-0 loss.

Pete Trotter recorded six saves for the Jets (6-4).

Seymour stops Eagles

SEYMOUR — Brown County couldn’t find the net in a 3-0 loss at Seymour.

Noah Seidle posted 11 saves for the Eagles (7-5-1).

Panthers best Warriors

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County led 7-0 before Scottsburg scored three times in the final 13 minutes to cut the final margin to 7-3.

Naomi Beal scored three goals for the Panthers (7-7-2), while Baylee Byford, Lexi Brown, Callie Wilder, Courtney Lykins all added one. Brown notched two assists, and Kayla Pappenheim and Beal each had one assist.

Jennings put 17 shots on goal to 12 for the Warriors. Mackenzie Byram recorded one save in the first half, and Faith Robertson had eight saves in the second half.

Cougars tie Rebels

HANOVER — Lexi Keller made a big save in the closing seconds to preserve Trinity Lutheran’s 1-1 tie at Southwestern (Hanover).

Kirstin Hoene scored the Cougars’ goal on a direct kick. The Rebels outshot Trinity 12-9, with Keller posting nine saves.

Lancers sweep Mohawks

WALDRON — Edinburgh had little trouble in rolling to a 25-12, 25-11, 25-9 Mid-Hoosier Conference win at Waldron.

The Lancers improved to 14-10 overall and 4-1 in the MHC.

Trinity routs Oldenburg

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran cruised to a 25-14, 25-3, 25-11 win against Oldenburg Academy.

Hailley Peters led the Cougars with 10 kills. Chloe Criswell pounded six kills, and Sydney Stahl added three kills and an ace.
