LORANGER, La. — State police say a 69-year-old Tangipahoa Parish man who was reported missing Saturday after not returning from running errands died in a single-vehicle car crash when his van ran off the road and wound up in a creek.

Trooper First Class Dustin Dwight said in a news release Alfred Dykes was pronounced dead after troopers discovered him in his wrecked van Sunday morning near the intersection of Louisiana Highway 443 and Lanier Road in the community of Loranger. Dwight says Dykes lived nearby.

Dwight says Dykes drove off the right side of Highway 443, hit an embankment, which launched the van in the air over Lanier Road.

He says the van came to rest in a creek, where troopers found the wreck.
