LAKE CHARLES, La. — The U.S. Coast Guard says a woman was rescued but a man’s body was recovered after the discovery of a capsized boat near Willow Lake in the Lake Charles area.
A Coast Guard news release says the boat was found Monday evening.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said Tuesday that Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies pulled 45-year-old Louis Kibodeaux’s body from the Intracoastal Waterway near the lake about 10:30 p.m. Monday. His body was turned over to the Cameron Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.
The news release said a vessel discovered the capsized boat and rescued a 26-year-old woman who was taken to a Lake Charles hospital where she’s listed in critical condition.
This story has been corrected to show Kibodeaux’s age as 45 instead of 42.
