CHANDLER, Ariz. — A man has been arrested in one arson case and Chandler police say he’s considered an investigative lead in seven other suspicious fires in the city since April.

Police say 31-year-old Thomas Leeper Jr. was taken into custody Thursday.

He was booked into a Maricopa County jail on suspicion of three counts of arson of an occupied structure, one count of arson of a structure and seven counts of endangerment. All are felonies.

It’s unclear if Leeper has a lawyer yet.

Police say the arrest stems from an investigation involving a fire at a Chandler home last month.

Detectives from the Chandler Police Department’s Property Crimes and Arson Unit have been investigating a series of eight suspicious fires on the city’s west side from April 22 to Sept. 2.
