LOS ANGELES — A violent traffic accident just outside downtown Los Angeles left a vehicle overturned on a sidewalk and another smashed-up car in the drive-thru lane of a fast-food restaurant.

A tree, a light standard and a fence also were toppled in the 8 a.m. Thursday crash on West Sunset Boulevard.

Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart says firefighters took one person to a hospital but there were no details on the patient’s condition.
