CHATSWORTH, Ga. — Authorities in northwest Georgia say a man has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of his toddler son.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a news release Thursday that 37-year-old Teodoro “Miguel” Rosas-Santos was arrested Wednesday. He’s charged in the death of 23-month-old Isaiah Rosas of Chatsworth.

The boy’s mother, Melissa Garner, found her son dead when she returned from work and taking other children to school.

The Murray County Sheriff’s Office in January asked the GBI for help investigating the child’s death. Investigators determined the boy’s death by asphyxiation was caused by his father, Rosas-Santos.

Rosas-Santos was booked into the Murray County jail. It was not immediately clear whether he had a lawyer who could comment on the charge.
