Donald Ray Perry, 63, of North Vernon, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Retired from Arvin Industries, he was a member of Sons of Union Veterans and the NRA. He was an avid Republican, a history buff, genealogist and collector of trains, books and old vehicles.

Born June 15, 1953, in New Albany, Indiana, Donald was the son of Charles Ray and Viola Goodin Wells. He was raised by his grandparents, Alexander and Julia Gilliland. He married Jill Nentrup June 6, 1972, in Hartsville, Indiana, and she survives.

The funeral for Donald will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Norman Funeral Home in Hope. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the funeral at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be donated to the American Diabetes Association.

Survivors include his wife, Jill; sons, Keith Perry and Kevin Perry, both of North Vernon; grandchildren, Sierra Perry of Seymour and Marcus Perry of North Vernon; siblings, Delores Perry of Twin Lakes, Wisconsin, Danny (Faye) Fivecoat of Columbus and Sue Kain of Indianapolis; a sister-in- law, Charlotte Straub of Waymansville; and several nieces and nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allan Straub and Charles Ray Jr.; and a sister, Lisa Thompson.
