INDIANAPOLIS — A jury has found an Indiana man not guilty of murder in the presumed death of his 6-week-old son.

The jury delivered its acquittal of 25-year-old Willie Wilson on Friday evening after about five hours of deliberations.

Wilson called 911 in August 2014 and reported that strangers abducted the infant named Delano during a holdup. The baby’s body was never found despite extensive searches.

Marion County prosecutors alleged Wilson killed the child and then lied to cover it up. Deputy Prosecutor Teresa Hall told jurors in her closing statement Friday that Wilson’s claim of the abduction “completely unbelievable.”

Wilson’s attorney didn’t present any evidence or witnesses. In closing arguments, Ikedigbo Nnameka told jurors there were gaps in the state’s case.
