Phyllis C. Bruner, 80, of Columbus, passed from this life at 11:59 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

Mrs. Bruner was born May 8, 1936, in Clermont, Indiana, to Bernard A. and Eunice Reed Bendler. She married W. Richard Bruner September 15, 1956. He preceded her in death January 1, 2007.

Mrs. Bruner worked in customer service at the former Hill’s Department Store and was a member of Christiansburg United Methodist Church.

Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, crafts and playing cards. Her family fondly referred to her as a card shark.

Survivors include children, Joan (John) Trimpe of Freetown, Dian (Kevin) Hayworth of Morgantown and Terry (Robin) Bruner of Columbus; grandchildren, Michael (Christina) Phillips Jr., Andrew (Amanda) Phillips, Serenity (Logan) Lynch, Anthony Trimpe, Catherine (Andrew) Buckler, Kyle (Kera) Hayworth and Amber Hayworth; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara (Willard) Lowe and Marlene Huber of Columbus, Brenda (John) Frank of Carson City, Nevada, Shirley Blair, Audrey (Charles) Crase and Rhonda (Dean) Walls, all of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Bruner was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a grandson, Zachary Bruner.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Jonathan Moore Pike with Steven Gommel officiating.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
