Church celebrates county, state bicentennial

Spraytown Free Methodist Church celebrated the bicentennial of Indiana and Jackson County with a special presentation Sept. 11.

“The Spraytown Community, From The Beginning,” was compiled and presented by Bonnie Thompson and Dean Warner. As they told of the events and places, they showed slides of them through the years, complete with four different maps showing how the roadbeds changed during 200 years.

Old tools and books used by past generations were on display. Hunter Clampitt read a poem about her great-grandparents and the family history. Special singers were Joe Sexton and Lola Mae Edington. Refreshments were served after the program while everyone viewed more slides of things in the community.
