PHOENIX — While high-profile Republicans continue to abandon their party’s presidential nominee, former Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says continuing to support Donald Trump is the right thing to do for the country.
Brewer released a statement Saturday that called Trump’s lewd remarks about women from a 2005 interview “wrong, inappropriate and disgusting.”
While she was repulsed by his language, Brewer credited Trump for “taking ownership of his words and apologizing.”
Brewer also says there is too much at stake if Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton wins the presidency.
A slew of GOP lawmakers including Sen. John McCain have withdrawn their support since the audio was leaked Friday.
Several have called on Trump to drop out of the race.
Trump has said he has no intention of doing so.
