Ethel Margrette Jeans Branaman Roberts, 88, of Columbus, died at 1:35am Friday, October 7, 2016, at Brown County Health and Living Community.

Ethel Margrette Jeans Branaman Roberts was born May 21, 1928. She grew up in Jackson County, Indiana, later moving to Brown County to marry the boy she met when she was 9 years old and fell in love with. She married Otha Roberts Jr. January 13, 1946, in Nashville, Indiana. They enjoyed celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary this year.

She was a homemaker and owned a lawn service company before retiring. She enjoyed traveling, was an accomplished bowler and enjoyed splitting her year between Florida and Nashville, Indiana, after retiring. Her caring love and friendship were felt by many.

She is survived by her husband, Otha Jr.; son, Loran (Linda) Roberts; daughters, Shirley (John) Arney, of Nashville, Kay Campbell of Naples, Florida, and Linda (Damon) Stadler-Perry of Dacula, Georgia; grandchildren, Heath (Jacquie) Stadler, Chad (Lisa) Stadler and Lance Stadler, Rhett (Kelley) Campbell and Carrie Campbell, Nathan (Sarah) Roberts, Seth Roberts and Megan (Evan) Johnson and Sarah McDougal, Damon (Adrienne) Zink and Christopher (Heather) Zink; and 15 great-grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers also survive her; Maxine (Verlin) Adair, Annie (Jerry) Kelp, Betty (Bob) Godwin, Bobby (Lucille) Branaman and Dan (Carol) Branaman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Pearl Wall Branaman and Alva Branaman; daughter, Rita Zink Roberts; great-grandson, Logan Campbell; sisters, Lois Smith and Alberta Branaman.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2016, at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Hurschell Joslin officiating. Calling will be from 1 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
