Duck Splash raises nearly $61,000

Staff Reports

Nearly $61,000 was raised in the annual Kiwanis Duck Splash, conducted Saturday in Mill Race Park.

Kiwanis representative Jeff Blasdel reported that 15,683 ducks were adopted, generating $60,995 for local youth organizations.

All adopted ducks were turned loose into Round Lake to compete for more than $12,000 in cash and prizes. Remote control Duckinator boats randomly selected ducks to determine the winners, Blasdel said.

Richard Perkins of Columbus was the owner of the Lucky Duck number, but his duck was not one of the first 10 selected, so he did not win the new car or $50,000. He did, however, receive $100 in Konsolation Kash.

Twenty-four other individual prize winners were announced.
