COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. — State Police say a 4-year-old child died in a fatal crash in Cottage Grove.

Lt. Cari Boyd says a Ford Explorer driven by a 23-year-old woman drifted off the road Tuesday and then rolled 30 feet down the side of a mountain. The woman’s three children — ages 2, 4 and 6 — were passengers.

The 4-year-old died at the scene while the driver and her other two children sustained minor injuries.

The crash investigation isn’t over, but Boyd says there is no evidence to suggest speed, cell phone use or alcohol was a factor. She adds that the children appear to have been properly buckled up.
