A driver stopped for speeding was arrested on heroin and methamphetamine charges after a police K-9 detected the odor of narcotics in his vehicle.
Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman, said Ryan S. Redmon, 25, 4060 N. County Road 150W, Columbus, was arrested on charges of:
- Possession of heroin
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession of a legend drug-injection device
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Columbus police officer Wesley Dodge saw a speeding vehicle about 7:10 p.m. Wednesday on Central Avenue and stopped the car, Harris said.
Dodge noted Redmon was visibly nervous and requested that a police K-9 check the vehicle. The dog alerted to the odor of narcotics, and officers later located heroin in one of Redmon’s pants pockets, Harris said. A small amount of methamphetamine was found in Redmon’s wallet, Harris said.
Marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in Redmon’s vehicle, Harris said.
Redmon was released from the Bartholomew County Jail after posting $41,000 bond, jail officials said.
