Master Trooper Gary Thalls said a 1995 Honda Accord being driven by Austin D. Wade, 19, Hope, was traveling west on County Road 900N, approaching the intersection of County Road 350E when for an unknown reason, he pulled into the path of a pickup truck.

The 2005 Dodge pickup, which was heading south on County Road 350E, was pulling a 29-foot camper-trailer, Thalls said. The pickup, driven by Eric W. Harper, 36, Hope, collided with the passenger side of the Honda and both vehicles went off the roadway, with Harper’s truck and trailer overturning in a nearby field, Thalls said.

Christman, a front seat passenger in Wade’s vehicle, was airlifted from the scene and Wade was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital, where he was treated and released for minor injuries, state police said. Harper and two juveniles in his truck were uninjured, police said.

Investigators from the Indiana State Police and firefighters from the Clifford Volunteer Fire Department were at the scene for about three hours. Columbus firefighters assisted at the scene with extrication.
Indiana State Police said an investigation is continuing into the crash.
